Relapse

Published by rozella under Spirit Edit This

Sigh. Where do I begin after disappearing for so long? Well, for starters, I have been extremely busy with work and I just haven’t had the inspiration to write a decent post. However, the bigger issue -I guess- is that I am suffering from a minor -at least I think that it is still minor- relapse.

Instead of floating, I have been sinking and perhaps even drowning in…I don’t know what, or maybe I do, but am just too afraid to admit it. But yeah, I didn’t want to update this blog because it would make feel like an impostor.

I have been trying my best to pretend that everything is okay, when the reality is that my world has somewhat crumbled. My emotional and mental state hasn’t been the greatest and it is negatively affecting my physical condition as well.

If I don’t update this blog regularly, just know that it is because I am trying to figure myself out…

Keep Your Supplements Fresh

Published by rozella under Food, Hygiene Edit This

It’s been part of the healthy lifestyle trend to nourish ourselves by consuming dietary supplements. The majority of people are particularly concerned about the type of supplements that provide optimum and effective outcome, but most of the time overlooks minor yet important issues such as supplement storing and handling while consumption.

Here are some tips on keeping your supplements fresh:

  1. Keep supplements refrigerated

Most supplements are required to be kept in a cool, dry place below 25°C, or ideally in the refrigerator. Refrigeration delays the process of the product getting moisturized, while retaining the product’s optimum potency.

  1. Pour supplement onto cap, before placing onto your palm

The best way to pour out the supplement is by pouring it onto the container’s cap, and not directly onto your palm. In the event of any excess tablets than the required amount are poured out, it can be safely poured back into the container, without the contact of a moist or sweaty palm.

Furthermore, hands can be contaminated with invisible germs, so this may heighten the risk of product contamination as germs can be transferred from hands into the supplement container.

  1. Tighten the supplement bottle’s cap

Once the product is opened, remember to close the cap properly and tightly. The cap helps prevent air and water particles from entering into the container, hence keeping the contents in good condition.

Don’t Leave Crumbs

Published by rozella under Food, Hygiene Edit This

pwo6067.jpg

Have you ever been so busy with work that you can’t even find 10 minutes to spare to grab some lunch? When I’m having one of those crazy days, I always end up munching a sandwich or something “fuss free” at my desk. While I’m typing away with one hand and eating my lunch with the other, I hardly realize that I am also “feeding” my keyboard with savory crumbs. Admittedly, this is one of my bad habits.

Research has shown that the office computer keyboard holds more germs than a toilet seat! How gross is that? It is very important to always clean up the mess with a keyboard cleaner like a squiggly sponge.

End “Corrective” Rape Of Lesbians In South Africa

Published by rozella under Petition, Women Edit This

A new ActionAid report describes the chilling rise of “corrective” rape in South Africa - in which South African lesbians are being raped in an effort to “cure” them of their sexual orientation. This shocking act of sexual violence must also be considered a hate crime!

Support groups in Cape Town say they see 10 new cases of “corrective” rape every week. And it’s even more widespread around the rest of the country.

Many perpetrators of rape already go unpunished in South Africa, but the situation is even worse for lesbian women. Indeed, 31 lesbian women have been murdered in homophobic attacks since 1998, but in only one of these cases has there been a conviction.

Although South Africa’s constitution recognizes rights of gay and lesbian people, its legal system does not view crimes committed against gay and lesbians on the basis of sexual orientation to be hate crimes. The South African legal system must recognize “corrective” rape as a hate crime in addition to a rape in order to establish a greater punishment for this brutal and widespread crime.

Urge South African President Kgalema Motlanthe to deem “corrective” rape a hate crime!

Need Some Zzz…

sleep-learning.jpg

Lately I have been struggling to sleep again. It is a problem that I face from time to time, but if it doesn’t get addressed it can turn into a lifelong affliction affecting other aspects of my life such as work, relationship and health.

According to Paul McKenna, bestselling author of I Can Make You Sleep, there are two core issues that keep people tossing and turning the entire night:

1. Inspiration
Sometimes we don’t sleep because we suddenly have a great idea. There is a reason why ideas come just as we want to sleep. Life can be busy and we don’t always have the time to get in touch with our creativity, so when we have a bit of peace and quiet, our unconscious mind takes the chance to present us with the results of our creative potential.

2. Emotions
If an emotion doesn’t go away when we change the pictures in our mind, it means it is an emotion that carries an important message for us. That doesn’t mean we have to react – we have to listen to its message. Emotions are signals for us to pay attention. However, because some of them feel uncomfortable, we are often taught to ignore them.
