No matter how much you are loved and cared for by the people around you, there are just moments in your life when you can’t bring yourself to face another human being. When I feel like I need to get away from all the excessive noise, but can’t actually take off and escape, I instinctively turn to my dogs. I don’t know what exactly it is, but there is just something so calming about being around animals.

I always knew that having pets are good for the soul, but I never knew that owning a dog can actually improve your health. According to Dogs Trusts, UK’s largest dog welfare charity, dog owners actually make fewer visits to the doctors. Research shows that owners who walk their dogs are healthier than non-dog owners. Owning a dog apparently can also help boost your immune system and reduce stress, anxiety, depression and blood pressure.

Dogs can help the development of children with autism and learning difficulties, and trained dogs can actually detect various health conditions including epileptic fits, cancerous tumors and hypoglycemia.

Now that’s something to bark about!
